Connecting Rod

connecting rod play on a 99 Yamaha Blaster?

I have a lot of side to side movement on a connecting rod from a 99 Yamaha Blaster. It seems excessive if I grab the connecting rod at the top (where it connects to the piston) and wiggle it from side to side. My concern is that it could wear out the top end.

Hi,
Side to side is no problem, its the up and down play thats the problem. There should be almost NO discernable up and down movement of the rod on the crank pin. If it feels nice and tight in the up and down direction don't worry about it, it will be fine.
